Toby Fox has a clever way to evoke nostalgia with leitmotifs in SNES style. "Hopes and Dreams" is final battle music against Asriel, one of the final boss, a finale which brings the game to an epic end. The track reintroduces many recurring themes in different styles. Arranging the track and finding the right balance between the acoustic voice and rock electric guitar riffs was an amazing learning experience for Ro and I. Started with piano as the base backing, we built upon the track with lively, energetic electric guitars/bass balanced with soothing harp writing. This arrangement presents a unique opportunity for Ro and I to collaborate on an idea of acoustic/electric fusion.
